Beta reader program now open
If you have a child or teen aged 10 and up who loves to read, I'd like to invite them to join my team of beta readers for my upcoming historical fiction novel.
The book is a spooky mystery set in medieval Africa, about an abandoned princess and an apprentice bard who team up to defeat a plot to usurp the throne of the Mali empire. It's a literary novel at about the same difficulty level as a typical Newberry Honor historical fiction book. You may view a plot summary here, and learn more about why I wrote the book here.
Beta readers will receive about three chapters' worth of reading material in PDF format in two alternate versions of the beginning of the book. They will be asked to provide feedback on what they have read via a short web form, and to vote on the version they liked best.
This is a unique opportunity for kids who love to read to gain insight into the process of writing and publishing a book. The first twenty participants to submit their feedback will receive a complimentary print copy of the book when it is published.
